The Florida Gators is the generic name used for the whole collection of the intercollegiate athletic teams that play for the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. There are eight men's athletic teams and eleven women's teams that compete in the Eastern Division of the South-eastern Conference in NCAA Division I. The teams have together won the South-eastern Conference All-Sports Trophy annually since its inauguration. The Florida Gators have also been in the top 10 of the American All Sports rankings annually for the past twenty years.

The Florida Gators' most prominent rivals at present are the Georgia Bulldogs, the Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida State Seminoles. Florida has also been rivals in past times with the Auburn Tigers and Miami Hurricanes, but these have reduced in intensity during the past few years. In the majority of the sports currently in play at the SEC, Florida has, without a doubt, been the single most dominant college in the league.

The Florida Gators' athletic department is managed by the University Athletic Association. This association is a private organization and it donates about $73 million per year to its sports teams and facilities. Ever since nineteen-ninety-two, the athletic director of the Gators has been one Jeremy Foley. Every single athletic team has facilities for competition on the university campus. These include Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field for football, the Stephen C. O'Connell Center for men’s and women’s basketball not to mention the women's volleyball and gymnastics and McKethan Stadium for baseball. The UAA maintains a few dedicated aircraft which are based at the Gainesville Regional Airport. These include a Cessna Citation and a Beechcraft King Air and exist to support the University's athletic endeavors.
