these have diminished during recent years. In the majority of the sports
currently played at the SEC, Florida has definitely been the
college with the most dominance in the league.
The athletic
department of Florida Gators is
managed by the University Athletic
Association. This department is a private organization which
gives around $73 million each year to the campus sports teams and
facilities. For over fifteen years, Jeremy Foley has held
the position of the Gators' athletic director of the Gators.
All the athletic teams have
facilities for competition on the university campus. These
are Ben Hill Griffin
Stadium at Florida Field for football, the Stephen C.
O'Connell Center for men’s and women’s basketball and also the
women's volleyball and gymnastics and McKethan Stadium for
baseball. The UAA maintains a few aircraft based at the
Gainesville Regional Airport. These include a Cessna Citation
and a Beechcraft King Air and exist to support the
University's athletic endeavors.
